Test Rig Experience

Haughton Design Limited have extensive experience in the design of aerospace test rigs and test stands. We have provided mechanical design services on a number of recent test stand projects such as JSF & 787. Using our CATIA v5 or SolidWorks CAD software we have considerable knowledge of designing test rigs for both commercial and military aircraft but could adapt this experience to many other test rig design applications. Our team of test rig design consultants have designed qualification and production test rigs for items as diverse as thrust reverser systems and missile gearboxes.

Range of Services Haughton Design Limited work very closely with our clients/team at all times and are often involved very early in a products development to offer advice on testing or test stand design. Our test rig design team can then use SolidWorks or CATIA v5 to develop the test rig design alongside new products, to ensure a testing facility is in place for when the first unit becomes available. To ensure accurate unit testing, our designs usually incorporate: Dynamic loading systems Representative inertia Representative stiffness Environmental housings Guarding systems Control system instrumentation

Facilities & Expertise

Our test rig design consultants can use either CATIA v5 or SolidWorks CAD software and can combine this with CosmosXpress for finite element analysis if required. Over the years we have also developed a number of specific design calculation sheets for efficient and accurate working. These are used to validate our test rig designs well before the detailing stage to ensure cost effective use of our time.
